Great Hotels: Dalmunzie Castle Hotel

We came across Dalmunzie Castle during our recent trip to Scotland. Dalmunzie Castle is in the middle to the Cairngorms.

Dalmunzie Castle is a former Laird’s mansion. It’s a stunning turreted castle in the Scottish Baronial style. It is located within the a 6500-acre Dalmunzie estate dating back to 1510.

The whole castle is beautifully furnished (but a little bit worn-out, but in a cosy sort of way). There’s very comfortable lounge and a bar, with fires contributing to a relaxing haven from the outside world.

The bedrooms are individually decorated. The bedrooms in the turrets are specially fun. Some of the bedrooms have four poster beds and suites.

Dalmunzie Castle is surrounded by breathtaking mountains, glens and little rivers all a few steps away from the front door.

One of the best things about staying at Dalmunzie Castle is it’s food. The food great tasting, locally sourced, served with old fashioned Highland hospitality. (Whisky porridge for breakfast was my favourite)
