Athens Day 3: Metro to Piraeus port, and then the 40 minute Hydrofoil to the beautiful island of Aegina. Back to Athens in the afternoon in time to visit the 1896 Olympic Stadium and followed by the changing of the guards in front of the Syntagma square. Athens Day 2: Started on the South slopes of the Acropolis hill, then upto the top to see the Parthenon. Back down, and climbed the Areopagus hill. Next on to the Roman Agora, Ancient Agora, and Hadrian's Library. Late afternoon visit to the temple of Zeus and end the day at the Acropolis Museum. My trip to Athens was a few weeks ago, but I'm only starting to post the pictures/write the blog. So here is Day 1. After arriving in in Athens airport in the afternoon, we decided to take a @citysightseeingathens bus. Tour took 2 hours, and ended with a sunset view of the Acropolis. Finished the day off with Orzo pasta at the Yard Restaurant. Day 9 of 9: And finally, home via Zurich and Paris. As much as I love to travel, it is a great feeling to come home. Really looking forward to relaxing and putting my feet up in familiar surroundings over the next few days! Day 8 of 9: Vaduz, Lichtenstein. We spent the day in the European Principality of Lichtenstein 🇱🇮. Population 37,000, Area 160 sq km and one of the highest GDP per person in the World. Day 7 of 9: Shoes by the Danube, and the Hungarian parliament. Starting the return journey this evening, on board the sleeper from Budapest to Zurich. Day 4 of 9: We travelled from Vienna to Budapest via Bratislava. Although a lot smaller than it's neighbours and less touristy, the Slovakian Capital has a cosy old town. Day 2 of 9: We are in Vienna. Fairytale Christmas Lights, Enchanting Christmas Markets and a tonne of Cafes and Museums. Day 1 of 9: Aaaaand we are off again! Birmingham to Vienna all the way by train. Birmingham-London-Brussels-Cologne-Vienna. 5 hour stop in Cologne, great for taking in the Cologne Cathedral and the Christmas markets. The Cologne to Vienna journey is on the Austrian Nightjet sleeper service. Pretty Autumn colours at Ironbridge, Telford. Built in 1779- 1781 over River Severn in Shropshire, it was the first major bridge in the world to be made of cast iron. It is undergoing a major programme of restoration at present. Day 12 of 12: The Colosseum, the Palatine Hill, Roman Forum, and the Pantheon. And so, a 12 day trip across 6 countries and 8 cities draws to a conclusion. We saw some of Europe's best sights and did so much. A big thank you to my parents who joined me on this trip. You were perfect travel companions and real pros.
